iClash is an electropop / new wave project by singer/songwriter/musician Jeff Denean Jones. Synth produced, new wave influenced (early OMD, Depeche Mode and Yazoo) and electro inspired, iClash is pop music for the underground.
In 2002 Jones moved to Los Angeles after the break up of his band Digital Fix in 2001. L.A.'s Retro/New Wave clubs became a gateway to the underground electroclash scene and electropop music which inspired Jones to develop his new wave / electropop songwriting style.
Between 2002 - 2005 Jones has recorded 50 plus songs as iClash and has been featured on several websites beginning with MP3.com in January, 2003. 25 iClash produced MP3's were available for download before the indie musicians' site closed down a year later to change format. Tracks included "One Way Street", "Driving Home", "Rest In Peace", "Everything", Jewel", "Time With You", "Legacy", "10000 Miles" & "Last Dance". Today iClash music is available on over a dozen various sites including music promotion sites like AcidPlanet.com & PureVolume.com or networking sites such as the very popular MySpace.com. Internet radio playlists have included iClash's "Baby", "Live & Die", "When I Look In Your Eyes." Check out Waiting For The Blackouts.
Download.com offers several MP3's for download with charts that track download activity. iClash has repeatedly hit the New Wave Chart's #1.
In March, 2005 the first official site was finally launched, iClash - The Music Site. Features include over 30 free mp3's & streaming audio, video clips, iClash artist bio, contact information, latest news & graphics page. Link to more iClash sites here.
In the Spring, 2004 the first iClash demo CD was completed and distributed to indie record labels. The 4 track demonstration included "Baby", "When I Look In Your Eyes" & "Live & Die" produced by iClash and "Move (Let Yourself Go) as produced by Jones' previous band the Digital Fix in 2000. "When I Look In Your Eyes" was included on a very rare Anti-War cd distributed by the Green Party in 2003.
New iClash demos are still being recorded and added to iClashMusic.com. Check back often.
iClash: bio
Jeff Denean Jones
Jeff Denean Jones has been writing music since the age of 12. Initially self taught on the piano the very first song was a waltz-like song later named "Winter." Nearly all subsequent songs (nearly 200 songs) were written on a Yamaha synth keyboard and a Casio keyboard until finally in 1997 Jones purchased a Korg Z1 sythesizer followed by a Korg Karma in 2001 which he still uses to produce music.
While living in Chicago Jeff studied Music Composition at Columbia College. Bored with writing songs in isolation and working on school projects he put an ad in the Chicago Reader searching for musicians to start a new band. It was a rough demo tape of "When I Look In Your Eyes" that got musician, Brett Sanderson's attention. Along with Garenne Bigby, they created The Digital Fix, an almost entirely electronic band, they would blend dark melodies with Jones' voice that ranges from candy to sad & lonely . DigiFx produced several original songs plus many songs by each member. They gave a few performances at house parties and underground dives in Chicago and once in Champaign, IL. Before spliting, the band recorded "Move (Let Yourself Go)" written by Jones, "Dangerous", a dark and wonderful song inspired by the debauchery of the day, written by Bigby seemingly for Jones, and the track "What's On Your Mind" written by Jones (now recorded as "In The Dark") for their never released 3 track demo. The Digital Fix version of "Move (Let Yourself Go)" is featured on this website. The band was briefly reunited after a Depeche Mode concert in 2001 that led to one final all night session that produced the darkest version yet of "Alive".
After graduating from school and the break up of Digital Fix Jones moved west to Los Angeles in 2002.
The sound of iClash has come full circle - shamelessly new wave, electropop. Though obviously influenced by Depeche Mode, Erasure and the Pet Shop Boys bands like The Postal Service, Ladytron, Fischerspooner are just as influential and are proving that it's more than retro flash backs and 80's clubs, an all new sound has taken on a life (and genre) of its own and is making a place in modern music.
Today Jones lives in Palm Springs, California (with Sophie, the house cat) where he continues to write music.
